First Phase of VST Training Programs

The First Phase of the Training Courses started in February 2015. 

The courses offered were the following:

  • General Office Administration Level 2

  • Cosmetology Level 2

  • Data Operations Level 2

  • General Construction Level 2

  • General Agriculture Level 2

  • Garment Production and Fashion Design Level 2

 

The Graduation Ceremony of the First Phase of VST Courses was held on Tuesday April 19th 2016 at the National Stadium. One Hundred and Forty Nine (149) students received a Level Two Caribbean Vocational Qualification in their relevant courses. 

Second Phase of VST Training

The Second Phase of the VST Training programme started in September 2015.

The courses currently offered are the following:

 

  • Personal Computer Repairs Level 2

  • Motor Vehicle Engine Services Level 2 (St. George class and St. Patrick class)

  • House Keeping Level 2 (Batch One and Batch Two)

  • Crop Production Level 2

  • Geriatric Care Level 2

  • Food Preparation and Handling level 2

  • Agro Food Processing Level 2

  • Cruise Ship Services (Batch One and Batch Two)

Third Phase of VST Training

The Third and final phase of VST Training started Dec 2016.

They are:​

  • General Construction (Batch Two) Level 2 

  • Bartending Services Level 2 

  • Outboard Engine & Small Engine Repairs

  • Food Preparation and Cookery Level 2

  • House Keeping/Property Stewards (Specifically for Males) Level 2

  • General Agriculture (Batch Two) Level 2

  • Printing and Graphics Arts Level 2

VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMME

 

The Vocational Skills Training is directly under the Human Social Capacity Building Component of the Programme. The main outcome of the programme is to increase the level of empowerment of rural communities and the male female members of social and economic rural organizations and their capacity to participate in development opportunities.

 

The Vocational and Skills Training (V.S.T.) programme is designed to provide training for six hundred (600) young male and female from MAREP’s target communities. The training areas identified were considered to be in growing sectors with potential employment opportunities. The Trainings are conducted in conjunction with the Grenada National Training Agency. The V.S.T. Programme will be implemented in three phases.
